Teaching critical thinking and voice in history essays: A spiderweb tool

Background: The history essay, and historical writing, are crucial forms of assessment in History throughout primary high school education. This article draws from an autoethnography teachings a pre-service teachers’ classroom. discusses obstacles students experience conceptualising writing the essay. A tool is introduced to overcome these obstacles. Aim: presents possible intervention form classroom tool. Setting: presented teachers (tertiary). It as method teach classrooms senior phase (SP), intermediate (IP), further education training (FET) phase.
